Design Assets — your shared libraries

Every template picks from four shared libraries in Design Assets. Add a sticker, a font or a colour once and any template can offer it. This page covers the libraries themselves; the placeholder docs cover how templates use them.

Open Design Assets from the app's left navigation. A Jump to row at the top takes you to each library and shows its count.

The four libraries#

Each library has a search box and lists 20 items per page. Click an item's name to edit it.

Adding an image asset#

1. Under Assets, click Add asset → Upload image.
2. Give it an Asset Name.
3. Drop the Asset Image — PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 6 MB, between 300 px and 5000 px on each side. The app resizes large images to 1200 px on the long side and stores them as PNG.
4. Optionally add a Thumbnail Image. This is the preview shown in the customizer's selection buttons; if you leave it blank the asset image is used.
5. Click Create.

For stickers and masks, use a PNG with a transparent background — the transparency is what makes a sticker sit cleanly on the design and a mask cut the right shape.

You can also add assets from inside the template builder: the Manage stickers, Manage backgrounds and Manage masks & overlays panels each have an add button that uploads straight into this library. The builder's uploader accepts the same formats but caps files at 4 MB.

Generate with AI#

Add asset → Generate with AI creates a sticker, background scene, mask or a Word Art graphic from a text prompt, using Wrangler AI. Each generation is billed per use to your Shopify invoice. The option is disabled with "Configure Wrangler AI first" until the storefront AI switch is on and Image Generation or Word Art is enabled.

Fonts#

New font opens a dialog with two tabs:

• Google Fonts — search by name or filter by category (Sans-serif, Serif, Display, Handwriting, Monospace) and pick a family.
• Custom Font — give the font a Font Name and paste a Custom Font URL to a .woff2, .woff, .ttf or .otf file you've uploaded to Shopify Files.

Every font also has a Fallback Font Type — Sans-serif (recommended) or Serif — used for characters the font doesn't include.

The Type column shows Google, Custom or None. A red Font failed badge means the custom font file couldn't be processed; hover it for the reason. Full detail, including licensing, in Fonts.

Text colours#

New colour asks for a Color Name and a hex code (with or without the #). Name colours the way shoppers think about them — "Charcoal", not "#333333" — because the name is what appears on the order line and, optionally, in the customizer's swatch labels.

Icons#

New icon has three tabs:

• Lucide Library — search the Lucide icon set by name or category and pick one.
• Custom icon — upload an SVG or PNG, or paste SVG code. Tick Update colour with text colour if the icon should recolour to match the customer's chosen text colour (works with single-colour SVGs, not PNGs or multi-colour artwork).
• Icon Details — the icon's name.

The Type column shows how each icon behaves: Lucide, Follows text (recolours with the text) or Own colours.

Library limits by plan#

Each library has a cap that depends on your plan. The count next to each section title reads "(N of cap)", and the add button is disabled once you reach it. Existing items are never removed when you change plan — you just can't add more until you're under the cap.

Deleting an asset that customers have used#

Deleting an asset, font, colour or icon that appears in a saved customer design shows a warning: "This … is used in old customer designs. Deleting this … will mean old designs will not be able to be reordered or recreated."

Orders that have already rendered keep their print files. But a design that's still in a shopper's cart, or an old order you later try to regenerate or edit, can't render the missing asset. If a library item is retired, prefer removing it from templates rather than deleting it.
