Plans and what's included
Starter, Growth and Scale — what each includes, how the limits work, how the 7-day trial and Shopify billing run, and what happens if a payment fails.
Pixel Wrangler has three self-serve plans, sized by how many custom orders you take a month. Every plan bills monthly through Shopify and starts with a 7-day free trial. Too big for Scale? Book a call and we'll shape a custom setup.

Templates are the lever, not your sales: a single template can power your whole range, and no plan takes a cut of an order.
How the limits work
- Order caps are soft. Going over never blocks a checkout and never holds back a print file. At 80% of your cap the app's Home page shows a banner — "You've used N of your plan's cap customised orders this month" — with a View plans button. That's all it does.
- Template caps are enforced. When you're at your plan's limit, creating a template shows "Your plan includes N templates. Upgrade to add more." Reuse one template across many products, move unused templates to Trash, or move up a plan. Templates in the Trash still count until they're permanently deleted.
- Design Asset caps are enforced at the add button. The count next to each library reads "(N of cap)" and the button disables at the cap. Nothing you've already added is removed. See Design Assets.
- The Artwork Export API needs Growth or Scale. On Starter, Settings → Artwork Export API shows an upgrade notice instead of the key controls.
The free trial
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. You get the full builder, the customizer and print-ready rendering during the trial — no feature is held back to a paid tier for the trial period. The app's Home page and Plan page count down the days and show the date of your first charge.
One trial-specific limit: AI usage can't be billed during a Shopify trial, so AI actions are capped at a modest number during the trial. Details in Credits and billing.
How billing works
Plans bill through Shopify. The charge appears on your Shopify invoice alongside your other app subscriptions — there's no separate card to enter and nothing billed outside Shopify. Your 7-day trial runs first; the plan charge starts when it ends. All charges are in USD.
AI usage is billed the same way: each tool is its own line on the same Shopify invoice, charged per use.
To cancel, open the app's Plan page, click Manage plan, and cancel on Shopify's plan page — or uninstall the app.
Switching plans
Open the app's Plan page and click Choose a plan (during the trial) or Manage plan. That opens Shopify's plan page, where you pick the new plan — every plan change happens there, on Shopify's side. The plan cards on our Plan page offer Start with Growth / Switch to Scale shortcuts to the same place.
- Upgrading — Shopify prorates the difference and charges the new rate for the rest of the period.
- Downgrading — the new rate applies at the next billing cycle.
Moving to a plan with fewer templates than you have (say, Scale to Growth with 60 templates against Growth's 50)? Trim to fit first — move the extras to Trash — so you're not over the new limit the moment it applies.
If a payment fails
Shopify retries the charge. While it does, the app's Home page shows "Your subscription payment failed" with an Update billing button. You keep access to the admin for 14 days from when the subscription lapses; after that the app parks you on the Plan page until a plan is active again. Your templates, settings and order files are kept throughout.
Custom plans
If you're on a plan arranged directly with Pixel Wrangler, the Plan page shows "You're on a custom plan" and your limits are set individually. Choosing a public plan there would replace the custom arrangement, so email us first if anything needs to change.
Support
